Herasails Ltd. (now Hera Cruises Ltd.) was set up in 1997 by two leading Maltese companies. The first vessel, which was purchased, was the M/S Hera. The M/S Hera is a 26.5 metre twin-mast Gullet, built in Turkey in 1988 and made of 'Eroco' whilst her superstructure and interior are made of mahogany and teak. The M/S Hera was joined by the M/S Hera II in 1999. The M/S Hera II is a 31.5 metre twin-mast Gullet, built in Turkey in 1997 and built out of Mahogany. Hera Cruises offers no less then four, quality excursions, namely, the Hera Cruises Snorkelling & Diving Adventure, Hera Cruises Round Malta 360 Motor & Sailing Cruise, Hera Cruises Sunset Cruise Delight, and finally the Hera Cruises Gozo & Comino Full day Motor and sailing cruise. These are over and above the various charters and private events we hold nearly on a daily basis.
Another aspect about us is that we take particular pride in our safety & comfort features on board both the M/S Hera as well as the M/S Hera II. In order to reflect our 'Quality Events at Sea' theme, the company makes sure that it provides all the necessary safety features which include amongst others: A fully trained crew, lifejackets, life rafts, first aid kit, Insurance, VHF Radio, Radar and firefighting gear.
These safety features all conform to the requirements set by the Maltese Maritime Authority. On the other hand, much has been done to enhance comfort features which include lounging areas with cushions, sun mats, cabins for changing, seating facilities, areas with shade, fresh water showers, a fully stocked international bar, WC facilities for both men and women and finally a clean and hygienic catering gulley for the storage of food.
Both yachts have also been fully rigged to offer clients the experience of sailing on all our programmes. Although cosmetic sailing and weather permitting, this has proved to be extremely popular with all our guests.
The two Turkish Gullets are constructed along traditional lines to give a classic sea-faring look to the vessels. Yet, at the same time the most stringent standards have been adopted to provide customers with the utmost luxury and safety. It is this aspect, which makes the M/S Hera and the M/S Hera II a special innovation to Maltese Waters.
